Hi, I am new to the forum but hope I can get some guidance here. I have an Asus eee pc 1201n. Originally it came installed with Win 7 x32 and it ran quite ok. I have had a load of issues with it and it went back to Asus 3 times for diverse repairs. Since then, I have never been able to get it running normally again. It is painfully slow browsing, especially on pages with loads of...

So I have a PC, with Windows 7 Ultimate x64 installed just yesterday. It is running sluggerish if I can say so. I will try to explain now. When I'm on YouTube, it sometimes freezes to the point that I can see the mouse pointer moving, but I can't click on anything for about 5 seconds. This occurs after I enter and exit fullscreen mode as well. Next thing is that Twitch videos lag. I know for...

Sorry if this is in the wrong section but I'm not sure where it should be. It's a kind of crash :o Our computer has a dual-boot XP and W7 system. XP is in a 21GB partition labeled 'D'. Windows 7 is in a 211GB partition labeled 'C'. When booting, the menu used to show two options: 'Earlier version of Windows' 'W7'

Hi, I scanned using Avast Free Antivirus just now (did a quick scan) and it showed me that I have performance issues. I clicked "Resolve it", but it showed me a pop-up that asks me to purchase Avast Cleanup in order to fix my performance issues. Are there any other good softwares which are free (this is a must) that are good enough to fix my lappy's performance issues? Thanks for answering.

Resource Montior Disk Speed Spikes Down Then Doesn't Go Up

For as long as I can remember, my Alienware Windows 7 laptop has been having lag spikes. This doesn't happen on any other device in the house hold, so i've hypothesised that it's something wrong with my laptop. I've done several Disc scans, defrags, cleanups and virus scans, so i'm guessing / hoping it isn't a virus. I looked up some solutions to these lag spikes and some of them said I should...

Is it ok to clean between the heat sink fins using a small artists paintbrush (natural animal hair type), I usually use a compressed air can but I notice there is still a fine dust layer left behind. I know not to use nylon etc brushes because of the static but is static a problem for just between the sink fins.

New SSD and settings causing PC to wake immediately after Sleep

Sorry for another post (you guys are always helpful). I just bought a new Samsung 850 SSD and cloned my Windows 7 OS (all went perfectly). Two issues, one is that I configured my pc to reflect the nature of a SSD by adjusting Virtual memory settings, turning off Hibernation, etc. I was nervous about wearing out the SSD. These are virtually the only changes I have made and now the PC awakes...

Low CPU usage while video editing

Just as the title says. I'm using CyberLink's PowerDirector 14 and while video editing my CPU usage is only about 12% even those trying to view 4K videos can be jittering. I also noted that some of the cores are 0% usage. Even during rendering the CPU usage only go to about 18%. Is there a way to improve this? I've heard about core parking and saw how to make regedit changes to correct this,...

Software options to better control mouse precision?

I purchased a HP BR376AA mouse to replace one with a bad button. Even though this mouse has specific drivers, they really only control the extra buttons and scroll wheel. Pointer speed is still handled by the default Windows mouse driver. I can't get this thing setup to a point I like- it's either too slow to too fast. Leaving "enhanced pointer precision" checked helps some but it's still too...

Hi I've been trying to get a spare computer we have to run from a 128GB SSD as a dual boot system and, using Partition Wizard, copying Win7 and Win10 from two 60GB SSDs. Quite a simple task you may think but it has taken just over two days to do it. I finished up using a spare second 128GB SSD to do it as somehow or other the MFT on the first one went corrupt plus I think I have cable...

Spontaneous shutdowns

I recently spent about three days away, during which my Dell PC running Windows 7 was shut down. Since my return it has functioned perfectly with one major exception. It appears to either reboot or shut down spontaneously several times a day. Unfortunately this has never happened while I was working on it, so I haven't seen it happen. It hasn't caused me any problems but it is disturbing. ...
